Reflect
Tasks at work can come to me from various sources throughout the day: Jira, email, Airtable, Linear, Teams, and so on. There is a temptation to use some ready-made software (or write it myself) to consolidate all of this into a single list and manage it there. The problem with this approach is that, firstly, it can be time-consuming, and secondly, I don’t have write access to some of these systems, and I still have to go into them eventually. And if I still have to go into these systems, then I just needed to focus on finding a system where I can link tasks from other systems and build my schedule for the day based on that.
The main criterion for me in searching for such a system was that data entry should be as free as possible, and the system should not impose its way of task management.
So I came across Reflect. Essentially, it’s a calendar in markdown format. For each date, it allows you to enter a markdown note with support for checklists and links between notes. In addition, there is convenient search, calendar integration, and templates.
An example of one of my days in Reflect:
In the end, my work with it boils down to recording urgent tasks there during the day (those needed right now) and tracking non-urgent tasks (usually determined the day before). I also record any non-work-related tasks if there are any, keeping everything in one list.
I’ve been using Reflect for almost a year now, and at the moment, it’s the best thing I’ve found on the market.
